Our Story
Meet Arnie Santos and Paula Sims, the dynamic duo behind El Rancho Viejo, a beloved Mexican restaurant in Booneville, MO. Arnie, originally from Guatemala, came to the United States in the early 90s and has since made Cooper County his home. With prior experience as part owner of a Mexican restaurant in Columbia, MO, Arnie's dream was to bring the flavors of Mexico to his hometown. Paula, a lifelong Booneville resident, is Arnie's life partner, and together, they have worked tirelessly to make their restaurant a reality, starting their journey in early 2020. The couple shares a passion for biking on the Katy Trail and indulging in good food, making them a perfect team for running a Mexican culinary gem.
Their dedication to providing the best quality food, drinks, and service has earned them a reputation in the community as the go-to spot for delicious Mexican cuisine. One of their specialties is their renowned margaritas, known as the best in the area. Beyond their culinary expertise, Arnie and Paula are deeply committed to the community they serve. They regularly host events in collaboration with the local police and engage in fundraising initiatives, showcasing their active involvement and love for the neighborhood.
With a 21-year-old son, Christian, the couple has raised their family in the area and cherishes the bonds they've built within the community. As they continue to grow their business, they warmly welcome both familiar faces and newcomers to their family-friendly establishment. Arnie Santos and Paula Sims are the owners of El Rancho Viejo. Arnie was already part owner of another Mexican restaurant in Columbia, MO but wanted to bring one to his hometown of Booneville, Mo. Arnie is from Guatemala and came to the United States in the early 90s and has been a resident of Cooper County ever since. Arnie has worked hard on his dream to open the restaurant since early 2020 to make this happen. His life partner, Paula Sims is a lifelong resident of Booneville, Mo. She and Arnie have been together for 16 years. They have a 21 year old son Christian and the enjoy biking in their free time on the Katy Trail and going out to eat!
