Our Story

Meet Arnie Santos, the Owner of El Rancho Viejo, a beloved Mexican restaurant in Booneville, MO. Arnie, originally from Guatemala, came to the United States in the early 90s and has since made Cooper County his home. With prior experience as part owner of a Mexican restaurant in Columbia, MO, Arnie's dream was to bring the flavors of Mexico to his hometown. Arnie has worked tirelessly to make their restaurant a reality, starting their journey in early 2020. He has a passion for biking on the Katy Trail and indulging in good food, perfect for running a Mexican culinary gem.

His dedication to providing the best quality food, drinks, and service has earned him a reputation in the community as the go-to spot for delicious Mexican cuisine. One of their specialties is their renowned margaritas, known as the best in the area. Beyond their culinary expertise, Arnie are deeply committed to the community they serve. He regularly host events in collaboration with the local police and engage in fundraising initiatives, showcasing their active involvement and love for the neighborhood.

With a 21-year-old son, Christian, he has raised their family in the area and cherishes the bonds they've built within the community. As they continue to grow their business, they warmly welcome both familiar faces and newcomers to their family-friendly establishment. Their diverse menu offers something for everyone, from traditional favorites like Chile Relleno, Tacos, and Enchiladas to mouthwatering Steaks and more. On our way from Los Angeles (full of Mexican restaurants) to New England, my wife and I found El Rancho Viejo, and were thrilled that we did. We both had the tilapia fish Mexico City style--it was outstanding, thinly sliced, nicely spiced, beautifully cooked, and moist, a real treat. Even the chips and sauce were terrific. And with our dog we could eat outside. Service was extremely friendly. In addition, the prices are amazing, especially given the quality of the food.

Ok, 1st, we lived in Tucson 24 years & the Mexican restaurants are top notch there. This restaurant compares in service and value. Portions so big and tasty we couldn't finish. Margaritas were yum & the service was perfect. We really recommend them if you're near Boonville Missouri.
